In this weeks episode, Jessica Fowler interviews David Klow, LMFT of Skylight Counseling Center about his book Inspiration for the Weary Therapist: A Practical Clinical Companion.  David shares how he wrote this book for the modern practitioner.  He shared how due to COVID, he saw how therapists were becoming weary and helps to encourage them through his writing while providing challenging examples.  During this episode we discuss the unique challenges that have occurred over the last few years, compassion fatigue, burnout and how to work through those challenges.

In this weeks episode Jessica Fowler interviews Leslie T. Herhold, LCSW, PMH-C about her book Self-Confidence Strategies for Women: Essential Tools to Increase Self-Esteem and Achieve Your True Potential.  In this episode Leslie shares about the importance of self-confidence and self-esteem.  Not only does she provide some tips for women but for parents as well to help build self-confidence.  Leslie also shares about the tools that can be found in the book to increase self-confidences that she has pulled from cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and exposure therapy.

Leslie Theriot Herhold, MSW, LCSW, PMH-C graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University in 2006. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 15 years of experience in maternal mental health, including over a decade of experience in the hospital setting as a social worker for women’s and children’s services.  She has received extensive training in Maternal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International and Karen Kleiman’s Postpartum Stress Center in Philadelphia, PA, and holds a certification in Perinatal Mental Health. She has been in clinical private practice since 2018, and now owns a group mental health practice with two locations in Baldwin County, Alabama.  She provides workshops to nurses, social workers, community agencies, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals. She is a member of the National Association of Perinatal Social Workers, the National Association of Social Workers, and is a volunteer support coordinator for Postpartum Support International.  Her first book, Self-Confidence Strategies for Women, was published in the Summer of 2020.

Jessica Fowler interviews Kate Kincaid, LPC about her book Polyamory Journal A Relationship Book: Prompts and Practices for Navigating Non-Monogamy.  During the interview, Kate shares about polyamory what it is and who would benefit from this book. Kate shares about her the exercises that can be helpful for a person to explore by themselves if they are interested in a non-monogamy relationship. The book explores topics such as exploring your own values, boundaries, jealousy and self-care.  In addition, the includes several other resources.

Kate Kincaid is a licensed professional counselor in Tucson, AZ. She runs a group private practice that specializes in working with LGBTQIA2S+ clients, people in ethically non-monogamous relationships and people seeking psychedelic integration therapy. She has long been interested in non-ordinary states of consciousness and believes in the healing wisdom of plant medicines. She is trained by MAPS in MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy and works in collaboration with providers doing Ketamine Assisted Therapy. She is passionate about perinatal mental health and is an advocate for innovative psychiatric treatments for PMDD and postpartum depression. Her interest in doing relationship therapy started when she studied at the Kinsey Institute- a renowned school for the study of sexuality and gender but flourished when she began actively organizing in her local queer and non-monogamous communities. She is the co-creator of Southwest Love Fest, a conference on ethical non-monogamy, relationships, identity and community. 
Kate’s therapeutic style is informed by feminism and social justice, seeking to help collectively dismantle systems of violence and oppression. She believes that many issues clients come to therapy with are rooted in a logical response to an oppressive system that is then pathologized and stigmatized. She has an eclectic and intuitive approach that is influenced by attachment theory, humanistic psychology, somatics, and neuroscience.

Jessica Fowler interviews Linda Hershman, LMFT about her book Gray Divorce: Everything You Need to Know About Later-Life Breakups.  In this episode, Linda shares about the unique challenges about breakups later in life and the decision if someone should stay or go.  Linda explains discernment counseling and when that can be helpful for couples.  Linda shares about the struggles of Adult Children of Divorce. Linda also discusses gray divorce of LBGQTQIA if this episode.  Linda Hershman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  Linda became interested in gray divorce when she noticed how many couples and individuals over the age of 50 in her private practiced considered or pursued divorce.  Linda has presented at conferences nationally and internationally on gray divorce and adult children of divorce.

Jessica Fowler interview's Lindsay C.M. Garrett, LCSW of www.lindsaygarrettlcsw.com about her book Parent Goals: The Millennial's Guide to New Parent Preparedness.  Lindsay has written a book to help to be parents with the emotional preparedness for parenthood.  She has spent her career working with families to do just that and now Lindsay leads you through the mental prep work needed before having children.  During this episode Lindsay shares how she couldn't find a book like hers so she wrote one.  Lindsay shares about the importance of the transition to parenthood that focuses on the parents and not just the child.  There are lots of resources for parenting the child, but fewer for the parents own transition. Jessica Fowler interviews Mayra Diaz, LMFT from Mayra Diaz Therapy about her book The Panic Attack Relief Workbook: A 7-Week Plan for Overcoming Fear, Managing Panic, and Finding Calm.  During this weeks episode, Mayra shares about panic, where it comes from and what is happening to the body.  When we learn to have compassion and try to understand the panic we can make more progress.  Mayra shares about the importance of learning your triggers and panic cycle.  In addition, the book helps you to develop a personalized plan to overcome panic attacks.  Lastly, the book has journal prompts and activities to build skills for dealing with panic attacks.  Mayra Diaz, LMFT is in private practice in LA, California. Jessica Fowler interviews Dr. Tanya S. Crabb about her novel Living the Dream: A Military Coming of Age Story. Living the Dream provides a woman's view of life in the military, and in particular, tells the story of one Jamaican-American woman as she tries to overcome personal and emotional challenges (from the back cover).  This weeks episode is different then the others because this is a novel, but it covers a lot of topics related to mental health.  Some examples of the topics covered include family dynamics, trauma and relationships.
